Full Preventative Maintenance Package
Also known as a "tuneup," this service is the first step in any seasonal care or repair diagnosis. The full preventative maintenance package applies to both gas- and battery-powered string trimmers, including straight- and curved-shaft trimmers and multi-tool/Kombi power heads with trimmer attachments. Use this service regularly (we recommend at least once every 12 months, or more often with heavy use) to prevent costly repairs and downtime! Gas-Powered String Trimmer Service
Safety Features & Controls
- Check throttle trigger, throttle lockout, and stop switch
- Check debris shield and line-cutting blade
- Check handles, harness/shoulder strap, hardware, and fasteners
- Perform an operational test at idle and full throttle; confirm head stops at idle
Fuel, Air & Ignition System + Engine Inspection
- Inspect fuel lines, fuel tank vent, and primer bulb
- Clean and adjust carburetor (new carburetor if unserviceable, sold separately at discounted rate)
- Replace air filter, fuel filter, and spark plug
- Clean cylinder fins and engine cooling area of debris
- Inspect recoil starter, muffler, and spark arrestor screen
- Basic engine multi-point inspection
Trimmer Head, Shaft & Gearhead
- Clean and inspect trimmer head; reload with fresh line (new head if unserviceable, sold separately at discounted rate)
- Inspect bump-feed spring, spool, and eyelets for wear
- Inspect drive shaft and shaft coupling; grease where serviceable
- Inspect and grease gearhead
- Inspect clutch and drum; adjust idle so the head doesn't spin
